Plastic Day 2025: Jakob Vietnam collects 3 tons of waste
With "Plastic Day" Jakob Rope Systems is setting an example for environmental protection: 230 employees are collecting around 3 tons of waste on the beach in Mui Ne Ward. The initiative is set to continue in the future in order to promote environmental protection and the careful use of resources.
A clean beach – and perhaps the impetus for much more: this is how CEO Peter Jakob describes the second “Plastic Day” organized by Jakob Rope Systems (Vietnam). At the end of August, around 230 employees joined forces on the beach at Mui Ne Ward, around 200 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City.
Why here? Jakob Vietnam chose this location because the company held its annual summer event with its Vietnamese employees here afterwards. Working together, the participants collected around 3 tons of plastic waste, making a visible contribution to the local environment.
Peter Jakob, his wife Pia, and son Emanuel took active part in the event together with friends and the management team at Jakob Vietnam. For Peter Jakob, one thing is clear: “Our Plastic Day is generating positive attention. Overall, it was a small event, but an important step – one that can be followed by more. We want to raise awareness and show that everyone can do something.”
Looking back: The idea for Plastic Day was born in 2024 at Jakob Vietnam. Back then, 110 employees took part and collected 1.5 tons of waste. The growing participation shows that the format is working – and motivates people to continue.
Jakob Rope Systems intends to continue the initiative in the coming years. The aim is to actively promote environmental protection locally, raise awareness among employees, and at the same time encourage other companies and organizations to follow suit.
