WalkNet

Walkable net structures made of reinforced fiber ropes create unique possibilities for the design of indoor and outdoor spaces. We implement your project from planning and engineering, production and assembly through to documentation and maintenance.

Whether horizontal or vertical climbing net structures for playgrounds, elegant nets as architectural highlights, or functional walking surfaces for indoor and outdoor areas – WalkNet can be created in many geometries and for different contexts.

This is how we implement your WalkNet

1. Consultation and planning
We develop the ideal net concept based on your requirements. Whether free-form structures, play and adventure areas, or architectural highlights – we will find the right solution.

2. Engineering and statics
We advise you on node design, mesh geometry, edge attachments, and fastening. We also develop the design, calculate the dimensions of the net, and determine its load-bearing capacity.

3. Manufacturing and installation
We manufacture your WalkNet in the desired configuration. Our installation teams then professionally install your WalkNet.

4. Documentation and maintenance
We provide comprehensive documentation for self-maintenance, as well as services for technical safety inspections, re-tensioning, repairs, and new integrations.

Specifications

The specifications of our WalkNet allow for the combination of various technical details. Create solutions in virtually unlimited shapes, sizes, and structural contexts.

Mesh geometry:
60° angle (for free forms)
90° angle (for square and rectangular net shapes)

Net nodes:
Type A suitable for horizontal nets with square meshes
Type B suitable for vertical nets with square meshes
Type C suitable for free-form shapes with diagonal meshes
Type D suitable for free-form shapes with diagonal meshes

Rope colors:
Beige, red, blue, orange, green, black
Other colors on request

Edge connections:
We tailor our approved end connectors to your specific net. We use a reinforced tying rope to tension and secure the net.

Net shapes:
Geometries in almost unlimited shapes and dimensions
Statics and net design by Jakob Engineering
Development of technical details according to customer requirements possible

Service and maintenance:
New connections, re-tensioning, technical safety checks, repairs
Documentation for self-testing and maintenance

Safety standards:
Net structures (mesh geometry and edge connections) comply with the applicable standards and safety requirements in accordance with EN 1176

Fire behavior confirmation:

Fire behavior testing for the reinforced fiber ropes product line was conducted by independent laboratories. The reinforced fiber ropes (woven into nets) achieve the following classifications:

  • Fire performance classification in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1:2019-05 – Class E, Kiwa MPA Dresden GmbH, Classification Report No. P000405977/01 dated October 11, 2024.
  • Smoke emission approved in accordance with DIN EN ISO 5659-2:2017-11 and toxicity tested according to DIN EN 45545-2:2026-02, Annex C – Level CITG met, Brandhaus Rhein-Main GmbH & Co. KG, Test Report No. 2024-1278 dated August 30, 2024.
  • In addition, confirmation of the fire behavior of the steel reinforcement as a load-bearing component was achived. In this case, for a 1x19 spiral strand rope, 1960, B, sZ: Classification of fire behavior in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1:2019-05 – Class B-s1 d0, Kiwa MPA Dresden GmbH, Classification Report No. P000405977/03 dated October 11, 2024.
